Waldent Chlorex 2% Chlorhexidine Gel

Rs 120.00  Rs 200.00

Chlorex gel, a potent antimicrobial gel containing 2% chlorhexidine digluconate, is a crucial element in endodontic treatment. It serves the primary purpose of disinfecting the root canal system by effectively eliminating bacteria and other microorganisms while preventing reinfection. The selective action of Chlorex gel targets and inhibits the growth of microbes responsible for pulpal and periapical diseases, ensuring optimal treatment outcomes. What sets Chlorex gel apart are its distinct advantages. Notably, it exhibits lower toxicity compared to alternative antimicrobial agents, making it a safer choice for patients. Additionally, its antimicrobial effect lasts longer, providing extended protection against microbial pathogens. Furthermore, the gel minimizes tissue dissolution, reducing the potential for damage to surrounding tissues.

In endodontic procedures, Chlorex gel proves to be a reliable tool for achieving optimal disinfection of the root canal system. By effectively combatting microbial pathogens, it plays a vital role in eradicating harmful microorganisms and supports the overall success of endodontic treatments. With its potent antimicrobial properties, Chlorex gel contributes significantly to the eradication of bacteria, ensuring a healthier root canal system and favorable treatment outcomes.

Indications :

  • Chlorex gel can be used as a disinfectant to remove microorganisms, endotoxins from the root canals.
  • It can be used as an intracanal medicament to prevent recontamination and eliminate residual bacteria from the root canal system, especially Enterococcus faecalis, which is a resistant bacterium that can survive in harsh conditions and cause persistent infections.
  • Especially used in cases of open apex, root resorption, foramen enlargement, root perforation, or risk of extrusion into the periapical tissues.

Contraindications :

  • Chlorex gel should not be used in patients with a known hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine or any of its components.
  • It should NOT be mixed with other irrigants such as NaOCl or EDTA, as it may cause precipitation, loss of antimicrobial activity or even toxicity.

Features

  • Broad-spectrum antimicrobial: Chlorex gel effectively targets and eliminates a wide range of microorganisms responsible for pulpal and periapical diseases.
  • Bactericidal and bacteriostatic action: The gel's dual action destroys bacteria by disrupting their cell membrane and prevents their multiplication by interfering with their metabolism.
  • Optimal concentration for enhanced efficacy: Chlorex gel's specific concentration ensures superior antimicrobial effectiveness and substantivity compared to lower concentration gels or liquid forms.
  • Inhibition of metalloproteinases: By inhibiting metalloproteinases, Chlorex gel preserves the integrity of the root canal walls, preventing the degradation of vital components such as collagen and dentin.
  • Chemical stability and odorless formulation: Chlorex gel maintains its chemical stability, ensuring its effectiveness over time. It is also odorless, providing a more pleasant experience for patients and clinicians.
  • Water-soluble and non-staining: The gel easily dissolves in water, facilitating its application during endodontic procedures. It does not stain clothes, minimizing any potential inconvenience.
  • Lower cytotoxicity compared to NaOCl: Chlorex gel exhibits a lower cytotoxicity than sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), making it safer for surrounding tissues and cells while maintaining its antimicrobial potency.

Composition :

  • 2% chlorhexidine digluconate
  • Gel base and distilled water

Packaging

  • 1 x 2gm syringe
  • 4 x Blue Tip (23 gauge)

Driection to Use

  • Attach a dispensing tip securely to a syringe filled with Chlorex gel.
  • Carefully insert the tip into the root canal, ensuring not to force it or bind it against the canal walls.
  • Gently press the syringe plunger to dispense an appropriate amount of gel into the root canal, ensuring complete coverage.
  • Employ suitable techniques like irrigation or agitation to ensure the gel reaches all areas of the root canal, including lateral canals, fins, and irregularities.
  • Allow the Chlorex gel, containing 2% chlorhexidine, to remain in the root canal for the recommended contact time, typically ranging from 1 to 5 minutes.
  • Once the recommended contact time has elapsed, thoroughly flush the root canal with an ample amount of sterile water or saline to remove any residual chlorhexidine gel.
